1. Australian Consumer Law (ACL) – Your Rights
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
You are entitled to:
A repair or replacement if goods fail to meet acceptable quality and the issue is not a major failure.
A replacement or refund if the failure is major, and
Compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
These rights apply in addition to the warranties provided by ergonomicoffice
ergonomicoffice provides the following general manufacturer-supported warranty coverage:
2–15 years warranty (model dependant)
Covers structural and mechanical components under normal use.
1-year warranty
(keyboards, mice, trackballs, etc.)
1-year warranty
(height-adjustable desk motors, power modules, cables, transformers)
1-year warranty
Warranties apply to goods used under normal operating conditions, following usage limits and care.
The following items and conditions are not covered:
Depreciating Wear & Tear
Natural ageing of materials (foam compression, fabric fading, discolouration, softening)
Misuse, abuse, overloading or using the product for an unintended purpose
Damage incurred during transport, relocation or modification
Environmental exposure: sun, humidity, liquid damage, food or drink spills.
Damage caused by inadequate care or maintenance
ACL rights still apply regardless of these exclusions.

If a manufacture, materials or design fault is confirmed then a repair, replacement or refund will be offered as appropriate under ACL
(General guidance only – actual lifespan varies by usage and conditions)
Entry-level products: 3–5 years
Commercial-grade: 5–10 years
Premium ergonomic: 10+ years
These lifespan expectations can exceed the warranty but are useful for asset planning.
Build quality – frame strength, mechanism grade, component quality
Daily usage hours – multi-shift offices reduce lifespan faster
Weight capacity – exceeding load limits significantly reduces durability
Maintenance – loose bolts, friction points, unmaintained parts
Environment – humidity, direct sun, dust, hard floors, rough handling
To maximise lifespan:
Rotate chairs in high-use environments
Clean and inspect annually
Tighten screws/mechanisms periodically
Use chair mats on hard or abrasive floors
Lubricate moving components where appropriate
Replace small parts (castors, gas lifts, arm pads) as they wear
Common signs a product has reached end-of-life:
Chair wobbles, creaks, or sinks
Gas lift no longer holds height
Mechanisms no longer function correctly
Upholstery is torn, sagging, or severely worn
Comfort and ergonomic support are noticeably reduced
For government, enterprise and contract customers:
Warranty reflects commercial duty ratings where applicable
Heavy-use, multi-shift or public area seating may have reduced warranty terms
Custom upholstery, special colours or modified items may follow manufacturer-specific warranty conditions
ACL rights apply where relevant
