Goldtouch Elite Adjustable Ergonomic Keyboard
Adjustable Keyboard Positioning — Built Around the User
The Goldtouch Elite Adjustable Ergonomic Keyboard allows the keyboard position to be adapted to the individual rather than requiring the user to adapt their hands and arms to a fixed, flat keyboard.
Its central adjustment mechanism allows the two keyboard sections to be splayed horizontally and tented vertically, providing control over the position of the hands, wrists and forearms during keyboard use.
Horizontal splay can be adjusted from 0–30°, while vertical tenting can be adjusted from 0–60°.
The result is a highly configurable keyboard particularly suited to users who want greater control over wrist, forearm and upper-limb positioning at the workstation.
Key Features
- adjustable horizontal splay from 0–30°
- adjustable vertical tenting from 0–60°
- central locking adjustment mechanism
- allows keyboard angle to be matched more closely to the user's natural hand and forearm position
- compact layout without a permanently attached numeric keypad
- embedded numeric keypad function when required
- PC and Mac compatible
- selectable PC/Mac mode
- wired USB connection
- laser-printed key legends
- full-size primary typing keys
- 3.6 mm key travel
- approximately 45–55 g average key activation force.
Why Splay Matters
When the hands are placed on a traditional straight keyboard, the forearms approach the keyboard from opposite angles but the keys remain arranged in a straight line.
This can cause the hands to angle inward at the wrist.
By opening the Goldtouch keyboard horizontally, each keyboard section can more closely follow the direction of its corresponding forearm.
The objective is not maximum splay.
The objective is the appropriate splay for the individual user.
Why Tenting Matters
With a conventional flat keyboard, both palms generally face downward towards the desktop.
The Goldtouch Elite allows the centre of the keyboard to be raised, reducing the amount of rotation required to place the hands flat on the keyboard.
Again, more angle is not necessarily better.
The appropriate tenting angle is the position that allows comfortable, controlled keyboard use while maintaining relaxed shoulders and forearms.
Small adjustments are recommended when first adapting to an adjustable keyboard.
Mouse Reach Matters Too
The Goldtouch Elite does not use a permanently attached right-hand numeric keypad.
This reduces overall keyboard width compared with many conventional full-size keyboards and allows the mouse to be positioned closer to the main typing area.
For users who regularly switch between keyboard and mouse, this can help maintain both devices within a more controlled A R M S™ Reach & Interface zone.
For intensive numeric work, the keyboard also provides an embedded numeric keypad function, or a separate numeric keypad can be positioned independently when required.
“Adjust the interface to the person — not the person to the interface.”

Who is it for?
Compact keyboards are for office workers who benefit from a smaller keyboard footprint and improved control of their working reach zone.
They are suitable for users who:
- use a mouse frequently throughout the day
- experience shoulder, neck, forearm, wrist, or hand discomfort from extended reach
- work at compact desks or shared workstations
- use laptop riser or docking setups and need a better external keyboard arrangement
- do not require constant numeric keypad use, or can use a separate numeric keypad when needed
- need the keyboard and mouse positioned closer to the body for improved ergonomic control
Compact keyboards help users keep their input devices within a more comfortable working zone, reducing unnecessary side reach and improving arm positioning during desk-based work.
Suitable Environments
Compact keyboards are suitable for:
- general office workstations
- WHS-oriented government and commercial office environments
- hot-desk and shared workstation areas
- laptop docking stations
- compact desks and space-limited work areas
- administrative, professional, clinical, education, and task-based workspaces
- workstation setups where mouse reach needs to be reduced
They are especially useful where desk space is limited or where users need the mouse positioned closer to the centreline of the body.
Problem to Solve
Traditional full-size keyboards with fixed numeric keypads can push the mouse too far to the side. This may increase shoulder reach, arm loading, wrist deviation, and general upper-limb discomfort during repeated keyboard and mouse use.
Compact keyboards reduce the keyboard width, allowing the mouse to sit closer to the body and within a more natural working zone.
A R M S™ explains why reach and interface position matter: when the keyboard and mouse are too far apart, the arms, shoulders, wrists, and hands work harder than necessary.
Compact keyboards help solve this by reducing lateral reach and supporting a more controlled interface layout.
Framework Application
A R M S™ - Primary
Reach & Interface
Compact keyboards support the A R M S™ system by improving the relationship between the user, keyboard, mouse, and desk surface.
They may help users to:
- reduce outward mouse reach
- keep elbows closer to the body
- improve keyboard and mouse alignment
- reduce unnecessary shoulder abduction
- support more neutral wrist and forearm positioning
- improve control of the primary work interface
- maintain a cleaner, more efficient desktop layout
